After our last day of surveying in Sorsogon, we met up with the Hagens and stayed the night in Donsol, then went out first thing in the morning to swim with whale sharks! The whale sharks (butanding) migrate through this area every year, and can usually be spotted from March thru May. There haven't been as many coming through in recent years, but we were able to see one that was about 6 meters long (about 20 feet)! Since it was my birthday, our guide helped me get a great view on our first swim :) It was such an awesome experience, and I was blown away by the magnificence of our Creator... such a special birthday gift from my Father.
